Boom Truck Operator:

National Salvage & Service has openings for Boom Truck Operators. To be considered you MUST have previous experience operating a boom truck, log loader, or grapple.
Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

        • Picking up railroad ties, rail, or powerline poles using a rear mounted log loader boom.
        • Loading trucks or rail cars in a fast-paced environment.
        • Removing debris at sites using log loader boom while adhering to safety standards.
        • Able to work long hours, overtime and possible weekend work in various weather conditions.
        • Willing and able to work away from home for weeks at a time.
        • Filling out daily paperwork and working independently.

Position-specific Competencies

        • Able to work long hours in all weather conditions.
        • Travel for 4 weeks at a time, then home for one week.
        • Hold valid driver’s license.
        • Have had no felonies in the past 7 years.

National Salvage has an opening for a Railroad Project Manager. National has contracts with major railroads to assist in their track renewal and maintenance programs. Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

        • Position requires travel within Project Manager’s assigned territory.
        • Majority of the work takes place outside.
        • Excellent understanding of GPS and mapping programs; including Delorme Mapping and Google Earth.
        • Visit sites on entire project. Look at sites for placement of ties and track quantity of ties.
        • Manage daily production and personnel; coordinating logistics with railroad’s managers.
        • Ability to convert logistical data for use by employees and contractors.
        • Create, implement, and communicate a detailed plan for the project.
        • Coordinate with National’s team and railroad’s track supervisor.
        • Adhere to all safety regulations. Visit with National’s work crews to ensure safety regulations are followed.
        • Inspect equipment assigned to projects to insure it is in good working order.
        • Proficient in use of Adobe, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook. Timely reporting of paperwork.

National seeks an inspector experienced with ultrasonic rail testing “sperry testing” at its Goldsboro, NC., facility. As an ultrasonic inspector, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, detailed work based on established standards while working at a steady pace. You will assess the quality of the rail and identify any defects discovered during the testing. Quality rail will be put into service as relay rail.

        • Operate ultrasonic tester equipment

Qualifications and Skills

        • NDT Level 2 preferred, Level 1 required
